Protection of Faith

Sunday Sermon 12/06/2015
By Jeffrey Rachmat

Hebrews 11:1 NIV
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Faith is different than believe … they are 2 different things, believing is passive while faith is active … it’s a different faith if you don’t do what you believe in

What changes is our life’s is not when we hear the word but rather when we are doing it

Hebrews 11:6 NIV
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Faith is the currency of God

The only way you please God

The smallest faith can move the mountain of your problems

Your life will be much different compare to those living with faith/worry

Just like protecting your candle from the wind blowing than you will lose your light of faith … you need to protect your faith

Read bible and pray everyday !!! The moment you awake, otherwise no more time … because the world is like the strongest wind that constantly blowing

Mark 5:35 NIV
While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

Mark 5:36 NIV
Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
Only Jairus, Peter, James, John and Jesus walked to that house

Mark 5:39-40 NIV
He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” [40] But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was.– what kind of people that were crying and suddenly laughing?

Jesus protect Jairus faith by driving everyone else away and not allowing everyone to follow except the 4 of them

Mark 5:41-42 NIV
He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). [42] Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.

Words can strengthen or weaken your faith

Faith comes from hearing the word of God
Romans 10:7, 17 NIV
“or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). [17] Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

You need to know who are hanging out with… who you are listening to?

Mark 7:32-34 NIV
There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him. [33] After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue. [34] He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”).Jesus took him aside !!!

You need to be in the right place, surround yourself with the right people in order to protect your faith

Jesus removes you from the wrong crowd

Jesus will make you stay in certain place in order for you to have your faith

Colossians 2:6-8 NIV
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, [7] rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. [8] See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

Be careful with so many philosophy that is not rooted in God

1 Timothy 6:20-21 NIV
Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, [21] which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith.

Be careful of certain teaching …. that is comes from bible or God

Jesus should be the center of our faith and our believes

Our faith should be rooted in Jesus rather than on things that we wanted …Only when your heart and faith comes from Jesus then you will have with thanksgiving …

Do you have thanksgiving or stuff that we don’t have it just yet?

If we don’t get the stuff that you wanted are going to be disappointed with God?

We come to earth with nothing and we will go out with nothing

1 Timothy 6:6-9 NIV
But godliness with contentment is great gain. [7] For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. [8] But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. [9] Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

Don’t chase richness but rather let richness chase you !!!!

Love of money is wrong … the money itself is not wrong

Money is just a tool !!! It will become good or bad depending who owns it!!!

Money has not feeling, why love them?

1 Timothy 6:11 NIV
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
Pursue those things !!!

Hebrews 13:5-7 NIV
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” [6] So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” [7] Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

Focus on the outcome of their life … not the start that matters but the ending will be matters

Summary
1. Protect yourself with the right people … or stay in the right place that allowing you only depend to Jesus
2. Rooted in Jesus not any other things
3. Have an ability of having enough, so that you can say thanksgiving every time

Richness is a result not something you should pursue ….
