Build Up

Sunday Sermon 01/17/2015
By Jeffrey Rachmat

Based on 1 Corinthians 121

Corinthians 12:22-27 NIV
[22] On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, [23] and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, [24] while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, [25] so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. [26] If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. [27] Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Family is people that proud for each other and embarrassed for what each others did badly

The new millennial generation: 80% want to work hard to get rich, 50% want to get famous

They think they need to get rich to be happy
Is it correct?

Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
[14] “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. [15] Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. [16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

God wants to make you famous and glorious so that people will know and see you, then glorify God
Robert Wallingers — his research proof that your past doesn’t determine your future

To get happy, there are 3 things that you need:

1. Relationship rich, or having Social Life

Exodus 18:18 NIV
[18] You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone.

You are meant to be alone — loneliness is very dangerous and can kill you

2. Impactful
— has any impact on this life

3. Connections
Proverbs 14:4 NIV
[4] Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but from the strength of an ox come abundant harvests.

Working alone will have limited result, we need to work together. Iron sharpens another iron

Abundance come from your hearts not what you have, there a lot of people having many but share nothing. But there people with less and share many things.

Philippians 2:14-15 NIV
[14] Do everything without grumbling or arguing, [15] so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky

Philippians 2:14-16 MSG
[14-16] Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.

Change our pattern of work to get the better result

Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV
[15] Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, [16] making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. [17] Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Ephesians 5:11 NIV
[11] Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Ephesians 5:4 NIV
[4] Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

Life to fullest is that when you are exposed and glorified by God .. There is God in your life
